Fifth grade students had so much fun putting their programming skills into action by programming bee bots and car bots.
First students wrote a code for the bee bots. Students began by drawing an image of the path they wanted the bee to travel in their STEM journals. From there, they used the drawing to help them write their code. Lastly, students typed in the code, and watched to see if the bee's path matched their original drawing.
After experimenting with the bee bots, students worked with the car bots. Students loved the car bots because they could make turns of a variety of degrees (the bees could only make 90 degree turns). Students coded the cars to create stars and other designs. They were even able to put a marker in a hole in the car, and see the designs created!
