Even though it didn't snow very much in Georgia this winter, that didn't stop us from building snowmen in the STEM lab!
Given limited materials (6 sheets of white copy paper, 1 foot of masking tape, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, and tissue paper), second grade students worked in pairs to create the tallest, free-standing snowman.
Prior to building, students worked together to design their snowmen on paper. The designs had to show exactly what material would be used and how much of each available material would be needed.
The tallest snowman that was able to stand on its own was 43 inches!!
